Economics is a social science about choices between different alternatives so as to bring about the best use of resources for the welfare of humankind. It facilitates valuable insights, critical thinking and problem-solving for prudent decisions.
The Department of Economics was instituted in 1987 and aims to enable students to learn the fundamental theories of Economics and provide foundation for the study of the different branches of Economics and to relate to the functioning of the real world to understand the various alternatives for better choices towards the common good.
