Guest Lecture
The Department conducted a Guest Lecture for I B. Sc (PCM, PMC) students. Dr. K. Sushan Bairy, Vijaya College, Bengaluru, gave a Lecture on topic “Introduction to Programming in Scilab and Maxima” On 30th July 2019



Industrial/Field/Educational Visit
A field trip was organized for all B. Sc (PCM, PMC) students along with the Department of Physics to Ooty on 17th and 18th October 2019. The students visited the Tea factory and museum situated in Doddabetta Peak. Amidst the blue hills of Nilgiris, it is one of the popular tea factories in Tamilnadu and also visited Madras Regimental Centre Wellington camp . The morphological toys of army soldiers are set at the entrance of this place near Coonoor .


The Department of Mathematics in collaboration with Department of Computer Science and Department of Physics organized an Educational visit to “Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC), Yelahanka for I BCA , I B. Sc(PCM) and II B. Sc(PCM) students on 15th February 2020. Dr. Shiva kumara Naiklal (Scientific Officer), briefly explained about Weather forecast, Natural Disasters and its Monitoring methodologies aspects. He also educated all students about internship programs being offered by KSNDMC and the career opportunities. Students had a great experience with hands- on experiments.


Departmental fest
An Inter-Collegiate event “Mathematical Relay” was conducted during “ Disha - 2019“ on 20th September 2019. Around 10 Colleges were taken part in which Bishop Cotton Academy won first place, ASC Degree College won second place and the third place bagged by the students of Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian College.


Departmental Bulletin board
Bulletin Board on “ Visible Learning “ was displayed by the students of II B. Sc on 19th July 2019 The Glimpses of Women achievers in various Mathematical fields, Mathematical concepts used in construction of various monuments-Taj Mahal, Philips, Pavilion and pyramid of Giza, fun facts were displayed.


Online Guest Lecture
Online guest lecture was conducted by Mr. Shibu Andia, Assistant Professor, PG Department of Mathematics,Vidya Vikas First Grade College,Mysore. On the following dates 25/04/2020, 27/04/2020, 01/05/2020, 04/05/2020 at 4:00pm-5:00pm via Zoom app for third year B.Sc(PMC) students.


Webinar
The Department Organized a National Webinar on the topic “Mathematical Modelling of Covid-19” on 12th June 2020 at 10:00 am- 11:00 am via Google Meet. The Lecture was delivered by the resource person Dr. Achala L. Nargund,Professor and Head PG Department of Mathematics & Research Centre in Applied Mathematics, M.E.S College,Bengaluru. Over 95 participants, both faculty and students of various colleges took part in the webinar.E-Certificate were provided to all the participants


Participation of students in workshop/Seminar
The third year B. Sc (PMC) students Ms. Misba Haram, Ms. Aliyah Rehman, Ms. Anjum Zehra, Ms. Misbah Sultana, Ms. Kavitha participated in the “Indian Women in Mathematics (IWM) Visitors program “ organized by the Department of Mathematics, Christ (Deemed to be University), Bangalore in Collaboration with National Board of Higher Mathematics (NAHI) on 4th March 2020

Participation of students in Inter-Collegiate event
The first B. Sc students Ms. Nisha, Ms. Bhumika, Ms. Soundarya, Ms. Jansi, and the third B. Sc students Ms. Tejaswini, Ms. Srividhya participated in “ Crystal Math” event in the Inter-Collegiate fest “Arty-fact 2020” on 3rd March 2020 at St. Anne’s College, Bengaluru.
