Remedial classes are specific guidance given by the teachers as a means to provide additional academic assistance to meet the learning requirements of a select group of students who have difficulties in coping with academics.
At Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian College, all the Departments across the different streams, conduct remedial classes regularly for the benefit of students. Slow learners are identified by the faculty members based on the students’ performance in the internal assessment tests and University exams as well as those students with shortage of attendance. The purpose of the remedial classes is the repetition and explanation again of the various contents of the syllabus that have been done previously in class, thereby helping academically weak students to gain knowledge and enabling them to handle academic challenges effectively.

OBJECTIVES
1) To motivate and help the academically weaker students to improve their academic performance.
2) Improving the students’ academic skills in the different subjects in the pursuit of knowledge.
3) Increasing their ability to understand and reason basic subjects so as to provide a stronger base for further learning.
4) To strengthen their knowledge gaining skills and a positive learning attitude towards the various subjects.

The faculty adheres to a comprehensive approach that includes explanation of various topics, assignments, revision of topics, important concepts, model questions, tests, extra classes, solving of previous years question papers and clarification of doubts as part of the remedial classes, so as to improve the performance of students.

Further, the progress of students is encouraged and monitored regularly to tide over learning difficulties in order to ensure improvement and achievement of academic success.
