1. Multi-Disciplinary Colloquium: III BA Students of SPE actively participated in the International Colloquium on the theme “Gender Equality and Inequality’’ on 10th August 2018 organized by The Diocese of Gloucester.
2. One-day National Conference on the theme “Becoming Woman: Crafting the Female Self in the Private and Public Spheres” was held on 21st March.
3. Guest Lecture for the final year BA students, related to Syllabus paper- VI ‘Sociology of Health and
Medicine’ by Dr. Lily John, CSI Hospital, Bangalore, on 24th August 2018.
4. Guest Lecture for the I, II, and III BA students on 24th Feb 2018 to bring awareness on Gender Equity by
Dr.Uma Devi, Head Dept. of Sociology Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College Bangalore.
5. Field Visit to Bangalore Baptist Hospital. Staff and Students of I, II, and III BA (SPE) went on a hospital visit on 27th Aug’2018 in accordance with the curriculum “Sociology of Health and Medicine”.
The students were guided into the BBH Kurien Foundation Community, Health and Research of SERC
(Simulation Education Research Centre).Dr.Caroline Elizabeth and D. Leebark Raj welcomed and addressed the staff and students were briefed about the hospital community health division and its services rendered to the people.
6. The Inter-collegiate Street Play competition was conducted during DISHA on 18th Sept 2018
around 8 Colleges participated in the event on the theme – “Echecs-The Queens Resurgence” based on
the theme topic given was “ Women Empowerment”.
7. Outreach Programmes: The Staff and Students of I and II BA visited New Life Center Girls Hostel on 10th
2018 for an Awareness program on Gender Equity. To bring awareness on Gender Equity, students
presented PPT for the Hostel girls to understand how girls should protect themselves, about their rights, self-respect, equal wages for equal work, discrimination between boys and girls, etc.
8. The staff and students of I and II BA (SPE) visited Makkala Ashraya Kendra Boys Hostel on 17th Feb 2018 for an awareness program on Gender Equity- we spoke about self-respect, values, and respect for women. We had an interaction session to clear their doubts if they had any. Notebooks and stationaries along with snacks were distributed.
9. Rally Staff and students of I, II, and III BA (SPE) went on a rally for an awareness program on Gender
Equity on 17th Feb 2018. Students with various placards marched from college to Town Hall shouting
slogans and depicted two Street plays to bring awareness on Gender Equity.
