2019-2020
A one-day workshop on “IPR for Spurring Innovation and Creativity” was organized by the department of Life Science on 8th February 2020. Many students and Faculty from various colleges attended the workshop. The department organized a field visit to Solid Waste Management, Yediyur Bio Converge, Jayanagar on 22nd October 2019, where the students learnt the various steps involved in the process of solid waste management. Totally 26 students visited the place. The department organized a visit to the department of Apiculture, College of Agriculture, GKVK, Bengaluru on 7th February 2020, where the students learnt the different species of bees, their rearing and management. The total number of students were 40 and 2 lecturers.

The department organized an industrial visit to CFTRI (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research), Mysore and visit to Drosophila stock Centre, Manasagangothri (Mysore University), Mysore on 11th March 2020, where the students were educated on the techniques of DNA and mRNA isolation and different instruments used for the same and also the different types of Drosophila and their culture in the stock centre. There were totally 55 students and 4 lecturers visited.

The department conducted an event “Turquoise – Chitrakala” on the theme “No water no life, No blue no green” during the intercollegiate fest “DISHA 2019” on 26th September 2019. The department displayed the bulletin board based on the topic ‘’Aging can never be concealed’’. Students were mentored regularly regarding attendance issues and other problems. Remedial classes were conducted for the weak students. Individual attention was paid to the students with health issues so that they could focus better on their curriculum.
